Dream Headliners For Leeds Festival 2009

September 7, 2008, Just For Fun |   |

The headliners are probably one of the biggest selling points of any festival. Leeds Festival 2008 boasted the three American guitar bands, Rage Against the Machine, Metallica and The Killers.

Just for a bit of fun, I thought I would ask you for your three dream headlining acts for Leeds Festival 2009.

The acts can be alive or dead, together or split.

My personal choices are as follows:

  • Bob Dylan
  • Pink Floyd
  • Jimi Hendrix

I no they can be alive or dead but i like to keep the death down to a minimum so i think i would have Aerosmith AC/DC and Led Zep

Unoriginal but you have to love it!!

lol, i know but compared to alot of people i know, thats pretty extreme, dont get me wrong i’d love to see some more metal headlining but i just cant think of any.

They wont get there next year, but The Subways!!! they are amazing, refreshingly fiesty compared to some of the pretentious boring trilby-hat-dance-friendly-beat-fake local accent-not much guitar sound at all- formula.
MUSE anyday at any festival, pure unrivalled genius. I won’t be surprised if their next album unveils the secrets to eternal life, or is the first album to be broadcasted directly to the mind via an appropiately flamboyant satellite.
and Beck, for a more chilled out vibe and some interesting weird noises.

    yeah RIP indeed mate!

I think the kings of leon have a really big chance of playing. they have played a few times before and have new material that radio 1 just can’t seem to get enough of…

Personally I think they were so much better when they first came out, much rawer and I loved their country feel.

    its just gone now :(

    JakeFrusciante
    September 17th, 2008 1:55 pm

i love the kings of leon. ive heard some of their new songs, sex on fire, crawl, notion and use somebody. all fantastic but i have to say… its not Spiral Staircase or Trani… Youth and young Manhood is my Fav album

next up Chili Peppers… John Frusciante is like the male equivalent of Jessica Alba for me… perfect. i dont care what they were like in ‘07 i was there and ive seen em 4 times before. they were on an off day haha.

and obviously someone like AC/DC because they have a new album coming out and its been said for years that theyre gunna play. although i’d put my money on them playing Download over Reading and Leeds. knowing that they’ll only do one. like Kiss did.

Friday - Red Hot Chili Peppers
    Saturday - Kings of Leon
    Sunday - AC/DC

    Ultimate…

    JB

“kirk hammett, synyster gates and slash are th 3 BEST GUITARISTS TO DATE NO DOUBT. (not including solo artists like joe satriarni)”

What about Herman Li, Alexi Laiho(sp), Paul Gilbert?
Hell, technically G3 (Joe Satriani, Steve Vai and guest guitarist) are a band. What about guitarists who used to be in bands? Batio, Buckethead, Yngwie?

It would be great if leeds festival went back to its roots of metal, even though it definatly wont because music has sadly taken a turn for the worse in recent years, i blame the internet, and little girls who like bands because the lead singer is ‘fit’ and not because they are good musicians.

    My dream headline would be

    Friday - Beneath the massacre

    Saturday - Whitechapel

    Sunday - Necrophagist

doubt anyone on here would have heard of any of those lol, but these lads are what you call talent, death metal ftw!

They would be cool headliners. I would love to see Radiohead at leeds but i don’t think its going to be that likely :(

    Matt
    November 11th, 2008 12:30 pm

Sorry to tell all those Oasis fans out there, that they said they weren’t going to do any festivals because they always screw them up.

I’d love to King’s Of Leon as a headlining act probably on the sunday. Arctic Monkeys are likely to play because they are releasing a new album next year. But I would really like to see an headliner that isn’t rock for once, Wu Tang Clan wouldn’t go a miss = ] but The Prodigy are doing a tour so they could be a possibility. AC/DC would be a good. Alice In Chains would be nice, but not for a headliner. So would Audioslave, I’ve been dying to see them for ages, and was devastated after they cancelled as the opening act for pearl jam in 2006. But on an unrealistic note, I’d love to see BLUR or maybe The Offspring headline the friday night :P

Firstly we have played with Glamour of the Kill, Dir en Grey, Beat Union Ted Maul, Rolotomassi and they are pretty sick bands anyway my line up would be dead or alive =]

SOAD or Metallica or Prodigy (just cause i haven’t seen them) or RATM
    Jimmy Hendrix
    Pink Floyd

Its a shame some of the artists playing in Creamfields like DJ Tiesto, Gorilaz, Underworld, Sasha.

They should have a gig where Rock vs Dance/DnB/Dub step just everyone in one gig less money to pay =]

    Durkin
    January 5th, 2009 9:05 am

Hendrix would have been so good to see live :(

    Cheers for the comment!
