Leeds Festival Ticket Website is Fraudulent!

April 10, 2008, Tickets |   |

This is a very serious post to inform you about a website that is supposedly selling Leeds Festival tickets.

leedsfestival.net claims that you can book tickets for this years Leeds Festival, but don’t order them!

Our reader Jenny said

“DO NOT order from leedsfestival.net it is a fraud site and says so on the Leeds official website. I tried to get some yesterday and had to cancel my mums credit card and the bank are investigating the company who operate from America!!!!”

Another reader Lauren also commented on the site.

dont buy any tickets from http://www.leedsfestival.net
its not secure.

I hope this has been useful. Lets beat the fraudsters.

*DO NOT BUY FROM - http://www.leedsfestival.net*

    It is a FRAUD website.

I, in the panic to buy a ticket, was stupid enough to *purchase* a weekend ticket from the website, using my debit card.

It was only until I realised that my bank account had suddenly lost £200 (the charge was supposedly £185) that I noticed something dodgy was going on.

I got in touch with my bank *Lloyds TSB* (who are BRILLIANT) and they have cancelled my card, closed my account, and opened me a fresh account all during one phonecall at 3AM. They are also refunding me the money that was taken, and in the mean time giving me a £200 interest-free overdraft while they sort everything out.

THE WEBSITE IS GENUINE, THE COMPANY IS NOT.

I have informed Trading Standards of the website and they are looking into it.

The money taken from my account went to BUDAPEST.

Lots of dodgy dealings going on out there, DO NOT BUY FROM WEBSITES CLAIMING TO HAVE TICKETS WHEN ALL TICKETS HAVE SOLD OUT.

I hope everyone who does have a ticket has a great time :)

    Emma x

although i do find it odd that anyone would not be suspicious when u can buy 30 and it says tickets are never sold out… although maybe you just wouldnt try and buy 30, so you would never know…

Hey emma i was just wondering what evidence you used to cancel your transaction with Llyods as my card company wont refund me until the tickets dont arrive 10 days before the event.

oh also with regards to the money being charged to budapest/hungary, apperently thats not uncommon. I asked my business teacher who said that nearly all .net websites have offices in such places and does not mean they are fradueltn, the fact you can buy 15 tickets is very dodgy though

hi josh, the official leeds festival website has also reported it as a site that should be avoided. I really don’t think its worth the risk to be honest!

I purchased a ticket for the friday from leedsfestival.net and read that it was a fraud I am with halifax bank and they refunded my money and cancelled my debit card and are investigating the site along with the police(who probs won’t do anything). Whether my tickets arrive and will be accepted is a different story looks like we have all been done over.

I paid £189 for ticket to Reading Festival for my son -I hadn’t recieved the tickets with just 4 days to go so I emailed them yesterday. I just got a return email saying sorry all their tickets have been posted out and if you haven’t got them it means unfortunately they’ll send a full refund within 28 days. Yeah right. I’ll let you know if I ever se my money. Now going to check my credit card statement to see where the money went in April when I paid.

My son is gutted as is his girlfriend who also ordered from the site and never got her ticket.

    Fraud squad here I come.

I am so pissed off!! My friend and I are ‘festival virgins’ and we booked these tickets thinking they were from an official website… we then booked tangeine fields for £155 to save hassle!
We now are at a stage where we cannot claim any money back from tangerine fields as we are within the 14 days where they offer no refund for cancelling within such a short space of time - so we have lost a fortune and don’t know where to go from here?! Can anyone help? :)

My boyf and I booked tickets thru leedsfestival.net in April…last year we used the official leeds festival website but the tickets sold out before we could book again with them this year. Our suspicions were raised when the credit card we used showed the payment had gone to Budapest so obviously we e-mailed leedsfestival.net (there was never a contact telephone number) several times only to receive one word or one sentence fob-off answers. I e-mailed them again yesterday after still not receiving our tickets and for the first time I received a properly written e-mail from someone named ‘Felicity’ explaining that all the tickets had been posted so we would be receiving a refund within 28days. We’ll see. I e-mailed back that I will be reporting them to Trading Standards. Luckily I think we can claim the money back from the credit card company but that’s not the point - we’ve been looking forward to the festival for months. DO NOT USE LEEDSFESTIVAL.NET.

    Hi

I ordered 3 tickets for the Leeds festival from leedsfestival.net and no surprise I get an email today to tell me they will not be sending them and I will get a full refund in 28 days!! Those people who received the same email please can you tell me if you did actually receive a full refund? I will follow this up with my bank, but I don’t think I will get anywhere as I paid by debit card and not credit card!! Like you guys I am totally gutted having planned to be at the festival this weekend and it’s now Wednesday without any hope of getting a ticket!! Also how did the trading standards threats go down??

I received the following response from them after threatening Trading Standards:
“Thank you for your latest email. I have taken time to look into your individual case with careful consideration. You are right to say that you will not be receiving any tickets as a full and complete refund is already in progress and will simply reverse back into your account within the next 28 days. As there is nothing more constructive to be contributed by prolonging this trail of correspondence, no further correspondence shall be entered upon.
    Regards
    Alistair
    Duty Manager”
This is the 3rd e-mail I have received from them in 3days…after receiving paltry responses to my other queries since April now they decide to ‘communicate’ using actual sentences and sign-offs, but we still miss out on the tickets they confirmed we bought 4 months ago which have now mysteriously evaporated. Although I know it’s a complete waste of my time to pursue them I just cannot let a scam outfit screw me over so I will indeed report them just so they can’t get away with it again next year, not that I’ll be booking with them!!!
