So…What Exactly is Leeds Festival?
A reader that has not been to Leeds Festival before recently posted, asking me “What Leeds Festival was all about”. I thought it was a pretty interesting question, and therefore I have made this post so that me and all of you can help answer the question for them.
From what I gather, they would like to know what goes down aside from the main music stages
Please explain your experience of Leeds and what happens other than the main music stages to help them out! Thanks ![]()

Durkin, Word is that Gaymers are the official supplier of Lager
Erm, apart from the music, theres the atmosphere, the nightlife, the drinking, and the general feel good atmosphere
When you get the bus fro mcamp back to Leeds, you realise how miserable the City is, thats Leeds Fest

Hopefully they’ll have a few different types of beer! You think they’ll be any cheaper due to no sponsor from Carling?

The festival last year was amazing, apart from the freaks that started running around in large groups that foucused in on random ppl. Strange. Apart from that the festival was pritty cool, drugs (no sex) but plenty of rock and roll…
come march 31st… cant wait to get my 2008 ticket..

leeds last year was my first festival and boy it was goood. apart from the obvious stuff that you get from festivals like the music and alcohol and drugs, you have a amazing atmosphere, thousands of friendly people ready to talk to you whoever you are and the short loss of knowledge of the real world (i nearly got ran down by a car when i got back, forgetting about them) ..i recommend it

Feeder are an amazing liv band, saw em 06 and everyone thought they were brilliant, there was a lot of “I dont usually like them but that was amazing”
To me leeds fest is large groups of friends (Living in york, and it being such a wide range of music there is always tonnes of people I know going)
beer, or cider at 10am in the morning
lots of drinking
making friends/rivals with close by camp circles
falling over, singing, and trying to keep fires going in the arena (especially on saturday night)
and Sunday night is about cheap stuff off markets, burning everything you can cause theres no wood left. monday morning is about major looting of the fields and missing your bed.

the best fuckin weekend of your life!

Leeds Festival…
Leeds Festival is a one weekend long unforgettable, “you have to do it at least once before you die” sort of experience.
Its a weekend with your mates, making new mates, meeting new people everywhere.
Its a weekend where - and this has actually happened to me - you may end up doing shots with your tutors!!
You cant enjoy it if youre thinking eewww mud! or freaking bout the toilets before youve even seen them (word of advice - a little vaseline in your nose, and the wisdom to not look down goes a LONG way).
Think normal people getting a little intoxicated and doing crazy stuff! Leeds Festival = a temporary lunatics asylum.
The top things to experience…
1) the bands. some of them will change your life! seriously!
2) the silent disco - worth the queues!
3) the toilets - if only so you can join in with the “oh my god theyre horrendous!” remarks
4) the clothing. put on whatever takes your fancy! or nothing at all if you wish!
5) the atmosphere. thats the real life changer. if you can really get into the festival groove, you’ll wonder why you missed out for so many years!
