5 things you should already know about Leeds Festival 2008

February 23, 2008, Hints and Tips |   |

Here is a collection of five things that I think all of you should know about Leeds Festival 2008 by now. I thought this would be a good chance for people to get in tune with whats been going on so far.

1. All the headliners are going to be American Guitar Bands!
That’s right. Melvin Benn from Festival republic announced that all the headliners will be American Guitar Bands.

2. Carling are no longer the official sponsor of Leeds Festival!
Carling have ended their 9 year partnership with Leeds Festival. Jim Shearer,a spokesperson for Carling said: “The decision to end the relationship is a strategic one, that allows Carling to investigate a number of opportunities to provide a great experience for consumers in 2008 and beyond. A further announcement will be made when plans are complete.”

3. Rage Against the Machine are a strong rumour!
Its true! Rage against the machine could be playing Leeds Festival this year. Apparently they are very close to being confirmed.

4. Leeds Festival has been nominated for an NME award.
Leeds Festival has been recently nominated for the “best live event of 2007″ by NME.

5. Radiohead will not be at Leeds
Radiohead Won’t be at Leeds Festival this year.  If they would have played they would definitely been a headline act, but it has been announced that all the headlining bands are American…

slipknot are a america guitar band and have anounced there new album will be out in april, i dont think they are likely to be playing thow.
Do the same bands play lees and reading or are they on at the same time?

Bryce -> The same bands play at both Leeds and Reading, although they usually play on different days. Occasionally a band may chose or may only be able to play at one festival and not the other, but this isn’t usually the case with the larger bands. :)

How do you know radiohead aren’t playing? Kaiser cheifs played the carling stage last year. I reckon that might happen.
