My Chemical Romance Update: “We Want Leeds Slot”
I had previously posted that My Chemical Romance were rumoured for Leeds Festival. Now we have found out a little bit more information about it. Bass player Mikey Way has admitted that the band already have the Leeds Festival Weekend in their list of festivals to play this summer.
Way commented when interviewed by Gigwise, “I don’t know if we’re actually playing it or not or if we’re going to be on tour but I’d love to do Reading and Leeds. If the opportunity arose I’d be more than happy, that’s a legendary festival.”
Interestingly if they do play it will be the third time in four years. Quite an impressive track record.

I thought Mikey Way had left MCR? For family stuff or whatever, either way i hope they don’t get the abuse they usually get!! Bottling winds me up at festivals.
Yea there an emo band but so what! don’t go see them, unless you’re willing to get onstage in front of a tough crowd like they would be doing, don’t throw bottles at them because you bet if one of those guys got off the stage and started looking for the troublecauser, he or she would shy away from it all and not admit it.

It would be great if they did both.
My only concern is they might decide to only do Leeds after the pathetic and downright despicible antics of Slayer fans in 2006 at Reading and with Rage and Metallica fans going this year I dread to think what the idiot brigade amongst their fans have cooked up.
Still they would be great.

I sincerely hope they play. They are absolutley fabulous live and are a world class band. I don’t care if people hate them, they’re still awesome to me.

do i honestly have to explain why? they suck, they arent talented, and they are pathetic. they ruined friday night last year of download, and if they play leeds, it will ruin which ever night they play on. metallica are fucking immense, and thats what festivals are all about, awesome bands. not emo wankers who cant write songs, and whine into the microphone, im sure many people will share my view.

im sorry, so what you are saying is that metallica are no longer good, and mcr are incredible? i think you may have mixed yourself up there. What you are implying is that metallica are no longer good, simply because of their last few albums, so they dont have the ability to play their old songs? think you are talking shite personally.
metallica are amazing live, and are at every show they play. and i dont think i actually questioned their ‘live ability’ once, i said they suck, plain and simple. the reason they ruined friday night at download is because nobody wants to see them, and therefore are forced to watch another band they may not like, which ruins the time slot, not the festival, the time slot.
basically, you are trying to make a come back argument, and failed!

I think slash is right in the sense that there is no reason why Metallica can’t play the old songs as well as they used to, but at the same time I don’t doubt that MCR can put on a good show.
MCR are not to my taste at all, but if they really were that shit live they wouldn’t be around any more. Bands have to be good live to make money these days.
Thats where the money is because they get fuck all from albums any more.
I’ve not seen them personally and i’m sure i would dismiss them as “shite” but thats because they are just not to my taste. All the people that love MCR seem to love them when they play live…
