No Sponsorship for Leeds
Here is an update about the sponsorship status of Leeds Festival 2008. I previously posted that Carling had dropped out, but there is now more information:
It has been announced by festival organiser Melvin Benn, that there will be NO sponsorship for this years Leeds Festival Weekend. He announced “I wanted Leeds to be (as I’m sure fans do too) slightly less corporate.” He also explained that he wanted Leeds (and Reading…) to return to its roots.

yeah, well from what the rumours are saying it looks like its going to be a bit more diverse this year, fingers crossed!
Did you not enjoy the festival last year then Marc?

Diverse? There are festivals for different types of music i.e. Download - Metal, Glastonbury - Hippy, V Fest - Pop.
So lets keep Leeds Indie with a bit of Rock/Punk thrown in there.

LOL thanks for the comment Girlscout, It was stupidly hot last year. So hot in fact that i was usually dead by the night time! I look forward to drinking something finer than Carling, but it probably will be some other crappy European lager

Err lets not keep Leeds indie!!!
It is a diverse festival, you cant say artic monkeys or muse as the same as killswitch or bullet which played on the same stage in 2006. If leeds turns 100% indie it will be such a shame.

thank you ash! Leeds is already indie enough. My first leeds fest in 2005 had a much more diverse line up if i remember correctly compared to last years.
on the subject of beer- as long as its cold and not carling im happy!

I don’t think its as diverse as say Glastonbury. I mean you don’t get any folk or much acoustic stuff down at Leeds, but i guess there is the Dance Tent and the heavier Punk/rock tent (I can’t remember what that one is called!)
Thanks for the comments

I’d love the Duchers IPA festival will probably be the same one lager brand doing all the drinks just not named in the festival title probably carslberg-tetley so there might even be shock horror some bitter for sale in the arena FINALLY!
